Agroforestry

Agroforestry is a multifunctional land-use which combines the growing of trees and/or shrubs with the production of crops and/or livestock on the same unit of land, and manages them together for their beneficial interactions.

It has the potential to help us adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change, reduce soil erosion, improve the health and welfare of livestock through the provision of browse, shade and shelter, and diversify farm outputs.

Sam researched agroforestry for his master’s thesis and has since designed and implemented a number of projects in East Anglia, meaning he has both an in-depth theoretical understanding and practical experience of agroforestry in the UK.
